Clutch/Lamb Of God/Corrosion Of Conformity
REVIEW: CLUTCH, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, LAMB OF GOD - COMERICA THEATRE- MAY 27TH, 2016
WHAT DO YOU HAVE WHEN YOU TAKE THREE WELL KNOWN HEADLINERS AND PUT THEM IN ONE PLACE?
You have CLUTCH, You have Corrosion of Conformity and then you have Lamb of God. All in one Sha-bang.
Now if this doesn't get you psyched for a good Metal Meltdown of different variations of Rock, to Metal to Heavy Metal, Then I don't know what will.
The crowd was starting to congregate to the coliseum we all know in downtown Phoenix, AZ as Comerica Theatre. Show was May 27, 2016 and started around 7:30ish.
Corrosion of Conformity came on and if you want to talk about walking back in time some, and learning where Metal was METAL... COC, they were it. I remember seeing them when I was younger and they were heavy then. Pepper Keenan on Vocals along with Woody Weatherman and the crew belted out a few good ole songs like Broken Man, Albatross, just to name a couple.
The crowd seemed confused on whether or not Corrosion of Conformity was metal or if they were Rock n Roll. My Metalhead friends, Corrosion of Conformity was metal when the big shots like Pantera and Sepaltura were around.
I will always hold a soft spot for Corrosion Of Conformity. I do want to point out it did seem the drummer was struggling to keep up. I wasn't sure but the the rhythm wasn't kept like the times I have heard Corrosion of Conformity play prior events.
Stage change...
Bring on Clutch...The audience seemed more into them and familiar with Clutch, and as I only expected from Neil Fallon(Vocals) was his energy at every show I've seen, He doesn't disappoint. Neil started out the night with the song W.W.T.R. As we know when it comes to getting the crowd to engage, Neil's your man. . Clutch's Funk Metal sound mixed with Blues twisted with a dash of heavy It's almost like a Twisted Martini on the rocks with a surprise kick. Hearing Tim Sult on Guitar is always music to my ears. I can't get enough. Dan on Bass and Jean-paul on Drums, the combo that has been around for many years and through genres of Rock, Funk to Metal. I give props to Clutch for staying true to their roots through those changes and only giving their individuality a slight boost of Umpf where it is due. Please don't change anything as Clutch's sound is one that is stamp marked and It's very definable to who CLUTCH is. As the old saying goes; If it's not broke, Don't fix it. This is the true definition of Clutch. Playing songs like "Sucker for the Witch", "Son of Virginia", "Decapitation Blues", How can you NOT enjoy hearing this diversity from this band?
To me Clutch is a staple in this industry for music. They've shown that since 1991 that they are here to stay. Guys, If you never have had a chance to see Clutch perform live, I suggest you do. They are a great band, great sound and their performance is well... You'll have to go to a show and see for yourself. You'll enjoy it.
For the night's headliner was ready to take the stage, The house was brought down of course. I won't go to much into detail but the night was excellent, Seemed to have an endless amount of energy flowing through the pit area and through the stands where fans were throwing horns, and banging their heads.
The night wrapped up and everyone I hope left with a new feeling of Come back, We need more. I do wonder what these bands do afterwards and think of their performances, The fans, Could things have been different? I would love to hear from them and from you the fans on your thoughts of that evening.

FEED MY PSYCHOSIS - SICMONICMAY 20TH, TEMPE AZ MARQUEE THEATRE Review and Thoughts. There is nothing like a good local metal show that has some of the top metal bands performing. That's what went down on Friday May 20th, at The Marquee Theater. Entering the doors to The Marquee you always get the vibe that your night will be a great one with the acoustics and the added bonus of being up close and personal to your favorite bands. That's what I like about this venue. It's not to large and not to small. It has that comfortable feeling to where you can just relax, enjoy a cold one and listen to the lineup. Friday's lineup was Lion Dynasty, Kill Command, ORENDA, INEPT HERO, Throw Logic, and the Headliner of the show - SICMONIC. Hearing most of these bands for the first time was a treat to me, along with photographing them. I got to the show as Lion Dynasty was belting out a few heavy songs. Kill Command kicked 1st into 2nd gear of the evening and The energy was flowing. ORENDA drew the crowd in and the sound was as pleasing, seeing our local talent here in the Valley of the Sun showing what they're made of . The talent was getting heavier with INEPT HERO taking the stage and getting the crowd into mosh pits and throwing their horns up to the band. I look forward to hearing more from these guys. I was impressed with their melodïcore sound and roughness to them. Throw Logic came on stage next and talk about a treat to your metal craving ears. I hope to catch more of them at upcoming events. Intermission took place as the crowd ventured out to get a cold drink, or a smoke before the big guns came out and Boy did they come out smoking HOT. SICMONIC took the stage and the crowd was calling their name. Billy Zane Muna -Lead vocals walked onto the stage and just pushed this show into overdrive with Zack R. Sewell on Drums, Ray Goodwin on Lead Guitar, David DiGilio on Bass and Zach Kasmer on Rhythm Guitar. Not only was I anticipating this being a great lineup of musicians, and sound, But WOW! They surprised me and put me into that moment of mind-blowing sensation of pure HELL YEAH in my gut which I never saw coming. It is easy to see why SICOMINIC is one of AZ's TOP 10 BANDS. Edgy, Hard, and downright ass kicking is every bit of what I would describe their uniqueness. Songs like "FEED MY PSYCHOSIS, Chapter 3, House of the Rising Sun" are just a few they started off with for the evening. Zack Sewell on Drums took a break to welcome Wylie Rhymes to take over. Billy Zane Muna announced their special guest for the evening and the crowd starting screaming and cheering for Wylie. Wylie's story is a big inspiration to a lot of us. He was in a bad accident and has overcome a lot of obstacles to get where he is now. Wylie has always been a fan of SICMONIC and being there able to get behind Zack's kit tonight was not only a tender and sweet moment, It was a milestone. Wylie settled in, and grabbed the sticks as Billy, Ray, Zack, David started off the rhythm that would lead us into SOMNAMBULIST. Rocking hard and not missing a beat, Wylie rocked the crowd. All eyes were on him and you made us all proud. Good Job Wylie. Zack Sewell took back control afterwards but not before he got a hug from Wylie. Devil Went Down to Georgia rounded out the evening with hard-hitting violinist Ray Goodwin shredding it up. Billy belted out this good old Charlie Daniels classic and twisted it with only a sound like no other and having the crowd join in on the vocals. The crowd stuck around and gave hugs and praises to everyone. I got to meet everyone in the band, and not only are they down to earth, They have talent I hope to see expanding into headliner shows and larger venue events for them. This lineup is one that has everything a band should be. Hard, Edgy, Unique, and Solid Core. They have it all. My personal thoughts are this: You MUST catch a SICMONIC show near you, not only will you become a fan but you will also be craving for more from them. I quickly turned into a fan, and follower and as I said it is no wonder why they're one of AZ's Top Ten Bands. Best of luck to the guys and I look forward to hearing more. http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/…/the-ten-best-arizona-metal… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN1s_LyuOWI https://www.facebook.com/sicmonicmusic/?fref=ts Catch their show: July 16 Marquee Theatre Tempe, AZ That is all for now my metalhead friends, See you at the next show. MONSTER TRUCK- BLACK STONE CHERRY- VOLBEATMonster Truck, Black Stone Cherry & Volbeat Review.
April 24th, 2016 – Phoenix, AZ 98KUPD Official hosted the event on April 24th having their own 98 KUPD's Bret Vesely and Shannon Hernandez aka Shan Man introduce the lineup for the evening. As the sun began to set the crowd started getting pumped up for the event that was about to rock downtown Phoenix. Out came Monster Truck from Canada and gave everyone a good ole welcome with a heap of rock n roll that gets your heart strumming, And you can’t help but tap your foot to the beat. For my first time hearing them live, this was an impressive band with a flare of southern rock that will light you up and keep your inner soul craving more from them. Black Stone Cherry came rolling out after Monster Truck and just lit up the crowd with their Southern Kentucky Bluegrass ass kicking sound that make the good ole’ boys look like saints. We’re talking the type of rock n roll that makes you feel like you’re in the south during the summer that will shake, rattle n roll you to the core. Black Stone Cherry Lead Vocalist Chris Robertson had the crowd throwing their horns up as their Rhythm guitarist Ben Wells kicked to the air towards the crowd. This band is raw pure energy along with the down to earth rough southern edge. I highly recommend getting to a show of theirs, you won’t be disappointed. There was a short intermission while they changed sets for the headliner for the evening Volbeat. The crowd was waiting for this, Cheering and Whistling, You could feel the air of total excitement from the young all the way up to the old. How could you not? It’s VOLBEAT. Michael Poulsen and crew came out belting out songs like Doc Holiday, Lola Montez, Sad Man’s Tongue, and their newest single, “The Devils Bleeding Crown”. Crowds cheering and singing along as their banging their heads to the beat. Michael and fellow band mate Rob Caggiano (Lead Guitarist) brought up children from the audience and engaged with the young ladies and gents as they got an up close experience to hang out with Volbeat. Michael even was able to steal a kiss from one of the young ladies from the crowd (Lucky Lil Lady). In the end after taking photos with the young gents and ladies everyone left the show with smiles, and true Rockabilly Southern Rock that rocked downtown Phoenix, AZ into the night and you couldn’t help but hum and anticipate the next time these three bands are in town ready to rock the house once again! This show was absolutely a great line up. The flow of energy of the crowd, to the venue, the weather that we had in the desert, everything was just Good Ole Rock N Roll. I, for one am a fan of Rockabilly style music that seeps into every crevice of your mind and soul to just keep you moving your body to the beat. If you can catch one of these bands tour dates, you won’t be disappointed. Here are some of their upcoming events: http://ilovemonstertruck.com/ http://www.blackstonecherry.com/ http://www.volbeat.dk/3/dates/ That’s all for now. See you at the next show.
